Pay range: $100,921.60 - $149,364.80
The Infection Prevention Program Manager is responsible for the multiple facets of the infection control program to identify and reduce risks of endemic (common cause) and epidemic (special cause) nosocomial infections in patients and health care workers. Acts as a consultant to all departments. Interfaces with the county and state health departments to ensure continuity of care, appropriate follow-up, and control of infection. Partners with OHSU Marquam Hill Infection Prevention team to ensure a system approach to infection prevention policies, processes and workflows.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Infection Prevention & Control. Representative duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Partners effectively with the Infection Prevention & Control Medical Director to manage all aspects of the IPC program.
- Communicates and consults with management to incorporate infection control principles for each department.
- In partnership with Infection Prevention & Control Medical Director, completes an annual risk assessment of potential infectious hazards, events, or environmental concerns. Uses results of risk assessment to develop the annual Infection Prevention Plan to be presented at Quality Management Committee.
- Proactively implements necessary processes to identify and evaluate risk of infection to employees and patients, implementing necessary infection prevention controls to mitigate outbreaks.
Monitoring of Infections & Data Analysis. Representative duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains records and logs of incidents related to infections and communicable diseases.
- Reports communicable disease to appropriate county and state health departments.
- Reviews and interprets microbiologic reports daily as part of the ongoing data analysis to track incidents of antibiotic-resistant organisms.
- Compiles and analyzes HAI data to identify variations in levels of disease and provides recommendations to appropriate committees.
- Prepares quarterly Infection Control Surveillance reports to be presented at the Quality Management Committee.
Assessment and Compliance. Representative duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develops and reviews isolation techniques according to accepted standards of practice.
- Manages hand hygiene monitoring and compliance program.
- In partnership with facilities and engineering, completes Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) on all building construction projects and remodels.
- Coordinates the timely and accurate response to inquiries as needed.
Develops, Coordinates and Provides Infection Prevention Training and Educational Programs. Representative duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Presents infection control information and bloodborne pathogen exposure prevention to new employees in orientation.
- Develops and reviews educational materials on infection control and isolation procedures for presentation to hospital employees.
- Develops annual safety training.
- Utilizes external data (local, state, national) to identify high-risk topic areas and focus groups for targeted education.
- Participates in Safety Committee as needed.
Performs other related duties and special projects, as assigned.
