Pay range: $47.44/hr - $71.23/hr
Ensures the delivery of quality nursing care for patients undergoing Endoscopy procedures in accordance with age-related and individual needs, physician’s orders, hospital policy, standards of care and nursing practice. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Participates in self-development activities to advance and maintain current knowledge and skills. |
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
Performed majority of the time: |
· Maintains the Endoscopy Center’s endoscopic equipment, accessories and supplies as directed by manufacturer to ensure proper use, function, and infection control practice (Primary RN). · Administers medication as ordered by physician, following the Moderate Sedation policy and monitoring procedures (Primary RN). · Safely monitors and documents care of patients undergoing Moderate Sedation in accordance with policy and procedure and guidelines of care. · Assures all documentation on medical records is accurate and complete at all times. · Supports and assists the physicians with care of the patient in the Endoscopy Center. · Participates in “standby call” according to department policy. · Safely monitors and documents care of patients undergoing Moderate Sedation in accordance with policy and procedure and guidelines of care. · Provides opportunity for patients to express any psychological or social needs or concerns. · Make available hospital resources to offer support for any stated needs or concerns. · Coordinates and prepares for Endoscopy procedures performed in the Endoscopy Center, intensive care unit, radiology department, surgical rooms and various nursing units. · Identifies potential staffing problems associated with patient’s changing needs and notifies nurse manager to facilitate continuity of patient care. · Uses cost effective measures in the delivery of patient care. o Participates in product evaluation and standardization of supplies. o Effectively manages utilization of supplies. o Protects equipment from damage or misuse and reports damage, misuse and/or malfunction to manager. · Identifies and communicates changes in patient status to the physician. · Performs basic patient education related to pre & post Endoscopy Center procedural period. |
Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job: |
· Participates in educational programs. · Participates in staff development activities for unit. · Participates in nursing in-services, conferences, and designated meetings to ensure professional growth. · Functions as preceptor to new staff. |

Education: | Required | · Associates Degree in Nursing. |
Preferred | · Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing. | |
Experience | Required | · N/A |
Preferred | · Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in acute inpatient care. · Minimum of two (2) years recent endoscopy experience. | |
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: | Required | · Current and unencumbered licensure as registered nurse by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. · American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS. · ACLS required or within 90-days of hire. |
Preferred | · CGRN certification | |
Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors: | Required | · Moderate Sedation Competency within 90 days of hire · Computer skills sufficient to send/receive emails, navigate Information Technology associated with position as well as Electronic Health Records required. · Fluency in oral and written English. · Ability to interact and communicate with interdisciplinary team and patients/family in a positive and effective manner. · Adapts to change in work environment in a professional and efficient manner. · Prioritizes effectively and delivers care with efficiency. |
