Pay range: $42.45/hr - $61.97/hr
Provides direct patient care as well as supervises the care given by all Respiratory Therapists, providing quality technical and management aspects of respiratory therapy, EEG and EKG services at the organization. Works in conjunction with the Director of Emergency Services and the Medical Director of Respiratory Services to update and maintain clinically appropriate departmental procedures. |
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
Performed majority of the time: |
· Coordinates all department functions, policies and procedures. · Functions as a Respiratory Therapist, demonstrates competency in all facets of Respiratory Therapy, including endotracheal intubations, cardiac stress testing, pulmonary function testing and documentation. · Ensures EKG and EEG tests are properly performed, results prepared and coordinated for physician reading and chart preparation and filing. · Participates in referral marketing and community activities. · Prepares ongoing statistical reports as needed. · Ensures charges are processed on a daily basis. · Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages. · Demonstrates confidentiality according to PHI regarding patient and co-worker information. · Assists Director to develop policies and procedures for Respiratory Therapy, EKG, and EEG that reflect current practice within that area and are within the requirements of all regulatory agencies. · Coordinates implementation of standards and procedures. · Interviews, makes recommendations for hiring, evaluates and supervises Respiratory Therapy, EKG, EEG personnel following organization policies to achieve optimum performance and growth. · Assists Director to prepare annual operations and capital expense budgets for Respiratory Therapy, EEG and EKG Departments. · Reviews, reports financial data, maintaining appropriate controls to ensure fiscal responsibility. · Develops and maintains quality control and Quality Assurance Programs. · Maintains equipment, including quality controls and preventative maintenance. · Conducts department meetings as often as needed to ensure communication. · Schedules regular personnel for duty and checks timecards each pay period for accuracy. · Monitors overtime, sick leave and vacations. · Utilizes problem solving processes and tools to develop programs and operational changes to enhance operations and profitability of the Department and/or organization. · Involves RT staff (and staff from other departments as appropriate) in decisions that might impact their jobs. · Utilizes feedback from patients/families, department and other health team members and physicians in decision making. · Uses effective working relationships with all health care team members, patients, and significant others. · Uses lines of authority appropriately. · Respects and advocates for patient’s and/or significant other’s rights. · Provides regular performance feedback to RT department employees. · Completes performance development summaries for RT department employees. · Consistently utilizes problem solving methods to resolve complaints, concerns, or conflicts. · Shares corporate and RT department financial status with employees on a timely basis. |

Education: | Required | · Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy. · A copy of your highest science-related academic diploma or transcript required upon hire. |
