Respiratory Therapists with experience performing ultrasound guided outpatient bronchoscopies are encouraged to apply.
Pay range: $37.99/hr - $55.11/hr plus 10% per diem differential
Position Summary: The Outpatient Respiratory Therapist will assist with outpatient bronchoscopies and perform outpatient pulmonary function tests, ziopatch and EEGs. Participates in planning, delivering, controlling, and evaluating safe and effective diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory therapy services.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently performs respiratory diagnostic testing, including stress treadmill testing and EKG’s.
- Performs respiratory treatments as listed on the orientation checklist according to departmental procedures.
- Administers respiratory medication safely following hospital and departmental policies.
- Documents assessments, treatments and medications accurately utilizing hospital and departmental formats.
- As a member of the Code Blue team, provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Maintains emergency resuscitation equipment and other equipment, in proper working condition.
- Participates in establishing a system to maintain a clean, well-organized, safe environment; reports potential safety hazards.
- Assists in maintaining adequate respiratory therapy supplies in the department and in-patient care areas.
- Participates in evaluation of new procedures and equipment.
- Demonstrates confidentiality according to PHI regarding patient and co-worker information
- Participates with physicians, therapists and other members of the health team in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of care plans for respiratory patients.
- Organizes, delivers, and evaluates respiratory care based on physician’s orders and individual needs of the patient.
- Instructs patients and caregivers about respiratory treatments and issues.
- Participates in a comprehensive inter-shift report of all patients receiving respiratory services and other reportable information.
- Executes round to cardiopulmonary patients and assesses status.
- Reports discrepancies in care through proper mechanism.
- Assists in maintaining quality assurance monitors as communicated with Department Manager.
- Participates in retrospective analysis of all aspects of respiratory care in accordance with JCAHO standards.
- Participates in all required meetings.
- Participates in ongoing education and staff development programs.
- Participates in evaluation of new equipment.
- Assists with EEGs as needed.
