POSITION SUMMARY

Relocation Assistance available up to $15,000

 

Pay range: $42.21/hr - $63.31/hr

 

The Office Nurse (RN) is responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality care to patients in accordance with individual needs, physician orders and standards of care, as represented through the patient care policies. Provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients. Assesses patient needs, implements and evaluates the care plan established for the patient, and assist patient in their journey through a surgical clinic. The Registered Nurse is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide culturally sensitive, age-specific nursing care to patients with complex neurological conditions.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments through observation and chart reviews.
  • Evaluate unstable or complex patient situations and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare providers and facilities. Work collaboratively with surgeons, advanced practice providers, clinic staff, and ancillary departments to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Assists with the throughput of patients prior to arriving to clinic, at the clinic visit, and following the clinic visit.
  • Assist patients in their journey through their neurosurgery care plan which may include weight loss counseling, nicotine cessation, glucose control, bone health optimization, and completing imaging/lab orders among others.
  • Conducts Phone Triage, respond to patient inquiries, assess symptoms, and provide guidance or referrals as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Complete necessary forms and obtain physician signatures as required. Contacts patients with test results and documents phone calls.
  • Promotes accident prevention and reports potential hazards to maintain a safe environment.
  • Responds to emergency situations and contacts emergency services as directed by physician.
  • Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, treatment plans, and post-procedure care as appropriate to situation.
  • Participate in assisting clinical research and completing associated credentialing as needed. Research responsibilities may include screening and enrolling patients in clinical studies, patient phone calls, placing orders.
  • Participate in tracking and obtaining quality measures used within the clinic which may involve dynamometer assessments, weight loss checks, patient reported outcome questionnaires among others.
  • Be willing to learn how to perform intramuscular injections on patients for bone health medications.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

  • Performs sterile processing of instruments as needed.
  • Obtains coverage for shift in event of illness or absence.
  • Prepares exam room/minor surgery for procedure(s).

Education:

  • Required: Associates Degree in Nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelors or Master of Science in Nursing. 

Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as an RN.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in phone triage.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

  • Current Oregon State Registered Nurse license.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS.
