Join our Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic, where you’ll serve as an independent clinical leader within a supportive, well-established, and mission-driven team. In this role, you’ll apply advanced medical knowledge, keen diagnostic skills, and sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. You will collaborate daily with a wide range of medical and surgical specialties to ensure patients are thoroughly evaluated and optimally prepared for upcoming procedures, directly contributing to safe, high-quality care across the perioperative continuum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative medical evaluations, including detailed history-taking, physical examinations, and review of diagnostic data to assess surgical risk and optimize patient readiness.
- Formulate and communicate medical optimization plans, addressing chronic conditions, medication management, and necessary pre-procedure interventions.
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests, such as laboratory studies, imaging, EKGs, and specialty consults, to ensure patients meet evidence-based standards for surgical clearance.
- Provide expert clinical decision-making regarding perioperative risk stratification, anesthesia considerations, and need for further evaluation or delay of surgery.
- Collaborate closely with surgical teams, anesthesiology, and multidisciplinary specialists to coordinate care and resolve complex medical issues that may impact surgical outcomes.
- Document all assessments, decisions, and plans clearly and thoroughly in Epic to support seamless communication and continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families on perioperative expectations, medication adjustments, risk factors, and strategies to improve safety and recovery.
