Pay range: $22.20/hr - $30.88/hr
The ¡Salud! Services Assistant is certified and/or licensed healthcare professional responsible for providing diverse support to community members needing access to healthcare services. This position is also responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality care to ¡Salud! Services patients in accordance with individual needs, and standards of care. |
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
Performed majority of the time : |
· Assist with the preparation, set-up, organization, implementation and clean-up of mobile medical, dental and vision clinics and other services. Ensures mobile clinics and vehicles are clean and preventative maintenance happens regularly. · Support patient intake with other clinical staff including health screenings and vital signs, documenting encounters and following up with patients. Provides referrals to patients as instructed by RNs and other providers. · Assist with community outreach events, including but not limited to bilingual health education material development and presentations to external community partners. · Perform administrative duties in support of ¡Salud! Services. · Perform other duties as assigned. |
Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job: |
· Participates in continuing education seminars, department in-services, safety training and other educational opportunities within the hospital and community. · Provides health care interpretation services once required training is completed. |
Decision making and budget responsibilities: |
· Decisions can impact the department, and under direct guidance of ¡Salud! Services Manager. · Utilizes corporate credit card and receipts for company vehicles. · No budget responsibilities. |
Education: | Required | · High School Diploma or GED |
Preferred | · Associates Degree in Healthcare related field. | |
Experience: | Required | · 2 years’ experience in a medical, clinical or community health setting such as urgent care, clinical care, ED technician or paramedic. |
Preferred | · Experience working with special populations or populations with limited English proficiency. · Teaching or providing health education to adults and adult learners and applying principles of adult learning theory. | |
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: | Required | · Oregon Drivers’ License. · American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, required within 90 days of hire. · Certified Traditional Health Worker with a focus as Personal Health Navigator, required within1 year of hire. |
Preferred | · Oregon Qualified/Certified healthcare interpreter, Spanish · Certification (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or · Certification as a Registered Medical Assist (RMA) by American Medical Technologies (AMT) or · Certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcare Association (NHA) or · Certification as a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). · Certification as Paramedic or EMT. | |

Preferred | · Working knowledge of patient navigation experience preferred. · Data collection and analysis skills preferred. | |
Other: | Required | · Bilingual Spanish skills required. · Be at least 21 years old. · Must have a satisfactory driving record which is defined as: o no more than one (1) accident and two (2) moving violations or o two (2) accidents and one (1) violation or o no accidents and three (3) violations on or off the job within the past 36 months, and o no conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), license suspension, auto felony convictions or other serious violations within the past 36 months. · Must complete a defensive driving course within the first 90 days of employment and annually thereafter. |
