Pay range: $36.77/hr. to $52.97/hr.

The Marketing Communications Specialist supports Hillsboro Medical Center’s business and patient health objectives described in HMC’s marketing and communications plan, as well as the collaborative marketing and communications objectives of the OHSU Health system. Working under supervision of the Director of Marketing, the incumbent helps raise awareness of news, internal programs, policies, and processes by developing and publishing content for HMC’s internal communications newsletter; and helps build awareness of, preference for, and loyalty to, HMC’s healthcare services by developing content for and maintaining HMC’s website and social media channels. The incumbent also tracks and analyzes HMC’s discoverability and digital content performance to enhance the organization’s profile and visibility throughout the region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Website strategy, content creation and production
- Project-manages Hillsboro Medical Center’s public website, developing a strategy for enhancing public and patient engagement with the website and creating, producing, and maintaining content for the site.
- Using demonstrated healthcare writing, editing and photography skills, the incumbent performs website administration, writes and edits content, builds web pages.
- Coordinates website vendor relations.
Social media strategy, content creation and production
- Project-manages HMC’s official social media channels (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube), developing a strategy for enhancing public engagement with our social media channels and creating, producing, and maintaining content for those platforms.
- The incumbent creates original HMC-branded content, curates OHSU and public health content, provides live social media coverage from events, places ads, and conducts social listening to promote the people, programs and services that make HMC and OHSU Health a healthcare system of choice for the residents of our region and beyond.
Internal newsletter content creation and production
- Writes and edits content for the HMC weekly internal communications newsletter.
- Writes original articles, edits content submitted by others.
- Creates each issue of the newsletter and publishes it to HMC staff.
Optimization and analysis
- The marketing communications specialist optimizes content assets for search engines and other search experiences; and measures their success.
- Performs related tasks as assigned.
Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:
- Takes photos using a digital camera.
- Creates and edits short promotional videos.
- Participates in and represents HMC at health fairs and other public events.
- Event photography—takes photos and/or videos at those events.
Decision making and budget responsibilities (e.g. impact limited to the employee, entire unit or organization-wide):
- Makes editorial and publication decisions that impact the Marketing and Communications team; under the guidance of the supervisor, makes recommendations and decisions that impact HMC as an organization and contribute to the public perception and image of the OHSU Health system.
- Effectively manages department resources and vendor relationships to maximize their value.
- Monitors expenditures against department budget; prepares necessary documentation for supervisor review and approval; tabulates budgetary data; and checks for accuracy.
