Summary of Duties

Working with the Capital Project Coordinator: performs repairs and modifications to interior and exterior building surfaces, maintains interior and exterior painted surfaces and wall coverings of the hospital building and its related building structures.  Assists in the development of cost estimates for painting and wall covering projects.  Using all necessary safety precautions, replaces lamps, hangs shelving, pictures, artwork, etc.  Arranges and performs minor office moves.  Completes work orders as assigned on the Hillsboro Campus.

Hiring Competencies

a.    Education: High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate with four years verifiable experience performing work as a journey level painter.

b.    Drives a Tuality owned vehicle as part of their job and is considered a Category A driver.  Must have a valid drivers license for a least 4 years, must have a satisfactory driving record which is defined as no more than one accident or moving violation on or off the job within the past 12 months, and no conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) within the past 5 years.  This employee must complete a defensive driving course within the first 90days of employment.

c.    Ability to demonstrate proficiencies in the use of all basic tools of the maintenance and painting trades.

d.    Knowledge of appropriate coatings for various hospital areas i.e. labs, clean rooms and public areas.

e.    Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills required.

f.     Skilled at matching colors and blending new and existing surfaces.

g.    Familiar with MSDS program and appropriate practices for the safe application and appropriate ventilation during application of paint and wall coverings.

h.    Exhibits strong collaborative skills in daily interactions and decision making.

i.     Manages change and conflicting priorities to accomplish and maximize opportunities.

j.     Demonstrates effective communication skills – body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing and questions.

k.    Personal appearance makes a good first impression.
