Summary of Duties

The Human Resources (HR) Business Partner provides HR guidance for assigned departments to ensure effective planning and implementation of key initiatives that affect the workforce.  Focuses for this role will be:

  • Working with customer groups to facilitate resolution of employee relations issues, redeployment including organizational structure changes, performance management, and compensation needs.
  • Providing coaching and leadership skills development, as needed, to enhance workforce engagement, development, retention and succession planning.
  • Counseling leaders and management to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices and develops new policies and practices to align with business objectives.
  • Monitoring and administering practices to ensure customer departments comply with FLSA, Wage & Hour, FMLA, OFLA, ADA, EEOC, ERISA, TJC, and applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules and regulations that pertain to HR management.
  • Keep the “pulse” of assigned departments and identify and facilitate needed interventions.
  • Organizational Development (OD) 

Through this work as an internal resource you will establish credibility with leaders as a valuable sounding board for business and people issues. You will partner with other members of the HR Team to develop and implement key strategies and initiatives to meet business objectives and/or manage a variety of HR projects as needed.

Hiring Competencies

a)     Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field required.

b)     Certification:  PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred.

c)     Experience: 5-7 years’ experience or equivalent Human Resources training in areas of employee relations, wage and hour laws, records management, unemployment, or compensation.

d)     Previous Health care or Labor negotiation or Union Contract implementation experience a plus.. 

e)     Has working knowledge of State and Federal Leave laws and Wage and Hour laws.

f)      Experience that demonstrates the ability to research, interpret and apply complex information.

g)     Understanding of how total compensation applies to the workforce. Understanding of workforce planning and staffing practices; experience with interviewing and coaching and counseling managers on making sound hiring decisions that support the overall organization goals; ability to analyze and calculate wage information.

h)     Broad knowledge of all areas of Human Resources responsibilities including hiring, performance management, HRIS system maintenance, and compensation.

i)      Demonstrates a high level of personal computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, HRIS and email systems.

j)      Presents self in a professional manner when dealing with customers and co-workers.

k)     Is organized and timely with responding to requests, holds self to high standards and is accountable, and provides excellent customer service.

l)      Ability to speak to groups and give presentations. Uses effective communication skills. Bilingual/bicultural skills a plus.

2.      Physically Demanding Tasks: The job is mainly sedentary, however, may lift a box weighing 10-25 pounds on rare occasions.
