Summary of Duties

Assesses the retail customer's needs for rental or sale of home medical equipment and supplies.  Obtains and processes related paperwork pertaining to sales and rentals of equipment.

Hiring Competencies

a.      Education: High school or GED graduate preferred.

b.      Business or clerical courses or equivalent experience preferred.

c.      Knowledge of durable medical equipment and supplies preferred.

d.      Experience in retail sales preferred.

e.      Medical terminology preferred.

f.       Experience with computer keyboard, typing skills and software required.

g.      Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

h.      Excellent customer service skills required.

i.       Knowledge of insurances, especially Medicare and managed care, preferred.

j.       Provides care appropriate to the age of clients served on the job.

k.      Ability to multi task and effectively deal with multiple interruptions

l.       Works in a variety of settings; must demonstrate ability to work with diverse cultures.

m.     Professional appearance makes a good first impression.
