Summary of Duties

Manages and coordinates organization-wide efforts to ensure that patient experience and quality improvement programs are developed and managed using a data-driven focus that sets priorities for improvements aligned to ongoing strategic imperatives for the organization.  Directs and supervises Tuality Healthcare’s organization-wide systems and staff for the departments of Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention, Chaplaincy program and Risk Management.  Oversees operations of the stated areas, directs and leads regulatory compliance including the Joint Commission (TJC) preparation and survey for accreditation, State and Federal agencies, external reporting agencies for quality data, credentialing, continuing medical education, (CME), and peer review.  Participates in sentinel event root cause analysis and Confidential Occurrence Report investigation when it applies to a quality of care issue. Collaborates with affiliated partners in OSHU’s quality improvement, regulatory and patient experience activities.

Hiring Competencies

a)     Education: Master’s degree in Nursing, Hospital or Business Administration. A copy of your highest academic diploma or transcript required upon hire.

b)     License: Current license as an RN from the Oregon State Board of Nursing required; Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.

c)     Minimum 10 years hospital or healthcare experience. Must also have 5 years in management supervising employees. Preference for candidates to have 10+ years progressive leadership.

d)     Knowledge of medical staff organization, quality and risk management, and TJC required.

e)     Must have knowledge and experience with Core Measures, HCAHPS, patient satisfaction, CMS, state regulatory requirements, and current concepts in quality assessment and improvement standards.

f)      Ability to work with mathematical concepts required.

g)     Planning and budgeting skills required.

h)     Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills essential.

i)      Excellent presentation skills required.

j)      Ability to implement ideas and programs required.

k)     Demonstrated leadership and management skills required.

l)      Ability to resolve problems required.

m)    Self-directed and motivated to work with minimal supervision.

n)     Strong analytical skills essential.

o)     Personal appearance makes a first good impression.

p)     Must have experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel and electronic communication programs i.e. Microsoft Outlook (e-mail).

q)     Knowledge in statistics, data collection and quality improvement tools.

r)      Excellent customer service skills required.

s)      Microsoft Visio experience/skills preferred.

t)      Bilingual skills a plus.
