This position would pick up 1 weekend a month in acute care for a Saturday and a Sunday, and filling in for vacation or high census needs as available. As Per Diem status the position is eligible for an additional 10% earning code on top of base pay. On the weekends worked, Speech Pathologists also get paid time and a half. Some weekends there are not any patients for Saturday, so the individual would be on call until 12:00 on Saturday and the same thing goes for Sunday. When the on call Speech Pathologist comes in on the weekend they have a guaranteed 3 hours pay if they are called in and there is not a full caseload.
The speech pathologist is accountable for assessment, treatment and education of patients and the appropriate documentation of such care. The areas of service may include, but are not limited to inpatient, outpatient and home health services as needed.
a. License: Current unencumbered speech/language pathology license in the State of Oregon.
b. Current Oregon Driver’s license and be at least 21 years old with minimum of two years’ experience in the type of vehicle being driven. No more than one accident and two moving violations or two accidents and one moving violation or no accidents and three violations on or off the job within the past 36 months. No conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), license suspension, auto felony convictions or other serious violations within the past 36 months.
c. Certification: Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech/language pathology issued by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
d. Certification: American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, and required within 90 days of hire.
e. Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules regarding patient treatment and documentation.
f. Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.
g. Demonstrates effective positive interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as a team.
h. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
i. Presents a personal appearance that makes a good first impression.
j. Practices in accordance with professional licensing, laws and professional practice act.
k. Must be able to work in multiple locations in one day.
l. Must be willing to work holidays and weekends as needed.
