Summary of Duties

Completes and processes surgical pathology reports, autopsy reports, Pap reports, as well as correspondence from pathologists, Laboratory Director and Leadership team.

Hiring Competencies

a.      Education:  High school diploma with secretarial classes or equivalent.

b.      License:  None required.

c.      Previous experience in a medical setting or laboratory preferred.

d.      Medical terminology required.

e.      65-75 wpm typing speed required.

f.       Transcription skills necessary.

g.      Typing and previous computer use required.

h.      Ability to be thorough and accurate in paperwork.  

i.       Personal appearance makes a good first impression.

j.       Uses effective communication skills to maintain the professionalism of the office.

k.       Flexible, able to work to meet the needs of the department.
