This is a full time position that has dual job codes (Scheduling Specialist and Certified Medical Assistant), and splits hour evenly between two seperate departments (Central Scheduling-65701 and the Preadmission Clinic-65801).
Performs clerical, data entry and receptionist duties to facilitate the smooth running of the unit. Schedules routine and complex surgical procedures, maintains departmental records and generates daily/ specialty reports. Excels in effective and positive communications and displays a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
Certified Medical Assistant
Responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality care to the patients in accordance with individual needs, physician orders and standards of care, as represented through patient care policies.
a. Education: Certificate of Completion from a Unit Secretary or Ward Clerk or Medical Terminology program preferred.
b. Certification: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, and required within 90 days of hire. If not American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certified upon hire, must have current BLS certification through another provider. ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
c. Two years relevant hospital experience required.
d. Excellent customer service skills.
e. Strong Computer skills essential.
f. Bilingual skills, English and Spanish preferred.
g. Demonstrates professional appearance and personal conduct for the employee’s particular job.
h. Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Certified Medical Assistant
a) Certification: Required - Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) or certification as a Registered Medical Assist (RMA) by American Medical Technologies or certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcare Association or certification as a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA/NCCT) by National Center for Competency Testing.
b) License: Current Healthcare provider BLS certification or within 90-days of hire. Limited X-Ray license preferred.
c) Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred.
d) Demonstrates proper appearance and personal conduct for the employee's particular job.
e) Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
f) Demonstrates interest of knowledge of Information Technology and general computer operational techniques.
g) Demonstrates organizational skills.
h) Demonstrates good customer service skills.
i) Demonstrates grammar and spelling abilities.
