  • Summary of Duties

    Provides and supervises nursing care of Radiation Oncology patients as directed by the physicians within the radiation oncology department.  Is accountable for direct and indirect quality patient care.  Coordinates nursing care with the radiation oncology team to deliver optimal nursing care.  Models professional development as an integral part of nursing practice and acts as a liaison with other health care professionals.   Registered Nurse applies knowledge drawn from broad, in-depth education in the social and physical sciences in assessing, planning, ordering, giving, delegating, teaching, and supervising nursing care which promotes the patient’s optimum health and independence.  RN must be competent to analyze patient data with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation process. Performs all duties in a manner that reflects and supports team concept.

    Hiring Competencies

    a.   Education: High school graduate or GED and graduation from an accredited RN course of study.

    b.   License:  Current Oregon State RN license. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, and required within 90 days of hire. If not American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certified upon hire, must have current BLS certification through another provider. ALCS certification required within 6 months of hire.

    c.   Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and communication skills.

    d.   Demonstrates organization skills

    e.   Presents a professional image.

    f.    Demonstrates good customer service skills.

    g.   Demonstrates grammar and spelling abilities in written communication.

    h.   Demonstrates the ability to type accurately at the rate of 40 WPM.

    i.    Bilingual skills a plus.
