  • Summary of Duties

    The speech pathologist is accountable for assessment, treatment and education of patients and the appropriate documentation of such care.  The areas of service may include, but are not limited to inpatient, outpatient and home health services as needed.

    Hiring Competencies

    a.   License: Current unencumbered speech/language pathology license in the State of Oregon.

    b.   Current Oregon or Washington driver’s license, be at least 21 years old with minimum of two years’ experience in the type of vehicle being driven. No more than one accident  and two moving violations or two accidents and one moving violation or no accidents and three moving violations on or off the job within the past  36 months and no conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), license suspension, auto felony conviction or other serious violations within the past 36 months. 

    c.   Certification: Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech/language pathology issued by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

    d.   Certification:  American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, and required within 90 days of hire. If not American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certified upon hire, must have current BLS certification through another provider. ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.

    e.   Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules regarding patient treatment and documentation.

    f.    Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.

    g.   Demonstrates effective positive interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as a team. 

    h.   Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.

    i.    Presents a personal appearance that makes a good first impression.

    j.    Practices in accordance with professional licensing, laws and professional practice act.

    k.   Must be able to work in multiple locations in one day.

    l.    Must be willing to work holidays and weekends as needed.
