  • Summary of Duties

    The Health Plan Coordinator is responsible for maintaining patient referral requirement needs through guidelines established by the patient’s individual insurance plans.

    Hiring Competencies

    a.   Education. High school graduate or GED preferred

    b.   License: Current CPR preferred.

    c.   Demonstrates professional appearance and personal conduct for the employee's particular job.

    d.   Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

    e.   Excellent grammar, spelling and mathematics abilities.

    f.    Demonstrates excellent telephone skills and customer service skills.

    g.   Demonstrates effective good organization skills

    h.   Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-9 CM coding methodology

    i.    Demonstrates knowledge of managed care insurance plan requirements.

    j.    Ability to accurately type 40 WPM.

    k.   Demonstrates personal computer skills including working knowledge of Word and Excel programs.

    l.    Bilingual skills a plus.
