  • Summary of Duties

    The Patient Safety and Quality Consultant (RN) is a key member of the leadership team who oversees the development, implementation, and management of a robust patient safety and quality program.  Responsibilities include analysis and investigation of patient safety incidents, risk assessment, integrating evidence-based guidelines into practice, continuous process improvement, and managing peer review.  This position promotes a culture of safety and is critical to ensuring Tuality Healthcare is a transformative, highly reliable organization with an uncompromising focus on patient safety and outcomes. 

     

    • Facilitates the review and analysis of patient safety events, including adverse events, critical incidents, and near miss events (25%)
    • Establishes a culture of safety and integrates evidence-based practice in developing, implementing, supporting, and monitoring patient safety, quality, patient experience, and regulatory compliance initiatives (50%) 
    • Promotes transparency and provides review and interpretation of patient safety, causal analysis, and quality data (15%)
    • Coordinates medical staff peer review program (10%)

    Hiring Competencies

    Education

    • Required: 
      • Bachelors degere
    • Preferred: 
      • Master’s degree in nursing preferred
      • Trained or certified in Lean or Six Sigma

    Experience

    • Required:  
      • Minimum 5 years healthcare experience
      • Demonstrated process improvement experience
    • Preferred:  
      • Patient safety, quality or risk management experience
      • Critical care and/or operating room experience

    Licenses/Certifications

    • Required:  
      • Oregon Registered Nurse License
      • Basic Life Support
    • Preferred:  
      • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)

      • Knowledge of legal, quality and regulatory requirements (TJC, IHI, CMS, NAHQ, NCQA)

      • Proficiency in Datix Safety Intelligence Incident Reporting System

      • Proficiency in Epic

      • Understanding of root cause analysis principles
