  • Summary of Duties

    Provides support for the operation and maintenance of LIS applications and/or clinical/operational workflows related to the use and optimization of the EHR.  Performs design, testing, operation, maintenance, performance, and upgrades of respective applications and equipment. Provides overall coordination for lab management and leadership to implement new testing including gathering data for LIS build, implementing the interfacing between instruments and LIS, and validation/troubleshooting of build.  Performs daily system maintenance tasks, including monitoring and troubleshooting interface and billing errors.  Monitors interface messages to assure everything is transmitting correctly.  Initiates CM tickets for build changes, validates changes and communicates with OHSU LIS to assure complete and accurate build. Serves as lab liaison between Tuality and OHSU so there is one port of communication and change control.  Works closely with physicians, clinicians, managers, and directors to integrate the system use and support an interdisciplinary team of end users.

    Hiring Competencies

    a) Education:  Educational degree in a health science or computer science field required. 

    b)2 years of informatics system (eg. Cerner, EPIC, Centricity, Meditech, etc) user or analyst experience and 2 years of relevant healthcare experience required.

    c)Travel to off-site locations may be required.

    d)Demonstrates strong leadership, effective project management skills and critical thinking skills required.

    e)Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills

    f)Ability to work with others as a team as well as many different people throughout the organization

    g)Strong computer ability for using PC based products, especially Excel spreadsheets and flowcharting

    h)Ability to identify problems/issues, research and offer solutions

    i) Standby/on call shift may be required

    j) Demonstrates proper appearance and personal conduct for the employee's particular job.

    k) Uses PC and Internet skills in communicating and analyzing data.

    l) Understands confidentiality in the health care environment.

    m) Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
