Primarily supports the transporting skill set. Maintains support operations with day to day workflow by processing outside requests for patient x-rays, reports and orders through the rightfax system. Logs and moves orders to appropriate department folder. Processes requests for imaging both rightfax and via phone through VPN networks and CD burner. Maintains imaging jackets both digitally and hard copy, incorporates new imaging from recently merged facilities. Tracks all incoming and outgoing patient information and billing for attorney requests according to state and HIPAA regulation. Maintains all logs in film library in order to track all processes. Transfers hard copy jackets to and from the TRC as well as yearly purges and data processes involved in maintaining physical films. Assists in registration processes, answers phones and coordinates appointments and daily schedules with proper departments, RN and radiologists daily. Processes orders and conveys proper prep, instructions and directs patients for appointments. Calls patients to schedule appointments. Uses interpreter services when needed and is conscientious with regard to the population we serve while working with patients. Transports patients to and from DI, maintains equipment i.e. cleaning, facilitating correct equipment needed for our departments, moving MRI coil to and from 7th avenue, restocking exam rooms. Maintains correct licensure and understanding of proper body mechanics and lifting techniques in regards to patients, and assists x-ray staff with Hoyer lift and other patient transfer devices. Monitors patients for exams that need extra assistance i.e. bed ridden, dementia, or fall risk. Follows processes for all the above on the weekend shift as well as assisting with on-call processes for department staff i.e. calling floors to coordinate schedules for on-call staff, assisting with contrast, prep and MRI screening forms.
a) Education: High school or equivalent experience preferred.
b) License: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, and required within 90 days of hire. If not American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certified upon hire, must have current BLS certification through another provider. ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
c) Lifting mechanics training within 30 days
d) Previous hospital experience preferred i.e. Medical Terminology
e) Simplicity training within 90 days
f) Patient registration experience preferred.
g) Computer experience with Microsoft Outlook and use of an electronic health record (EHR) system required.
h) High level of attention to detail.
i) Demonstrates ability to alphabetize and accurately file.
j) Demonstrates organizational skills and ability to effectively multitask with frequent interruptions.
k) Ability to accurately create bar code chart labels preferred.
l) Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
m) Professional personal appearance Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.
n) Demonstrates the ability to maintain focus under pressure
o) Ability to deal with several phone lines and patients at once.
p) Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
q) Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines preferred and practices patient confidentiality.
r) Bilingual skills a plus.
