  • Summary of Duties

    Provides clerical and work flow support to the Diagnostic Imaging clinical staff and supervisors.  Gathers and ensures all scheduled exams have either written or electronic orders.  Prepares information for upcoming appointments by obtaining prior reports, insurance pre-authorization verification and other patient information as needed per modality protocol or at direction of technologists.  Uses excellent customer service skills and if needed, interpreter services, to call patients to schedule exams, give preparation instructions, and appointment reminders.  Effectively utilizes several computer systems, such as EMR & Synapse, to obtain and document information.  Performs various other duties requiring strong organizational skills, good judgement and initiative. 

    Hiring Competencies

    a)     Education: High school Graduate or GED preferred

    b)     License: Current BLS certification preferred

    c)     Patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred. 

    d)     Computer experience with Microsoft Office & Outlook.

    e)     Use of an electronic health record (EHR) system preferred.

    f)      High level of attention to detail with accurate alphabetization, grammar & spelling.

    g)     Demonstrates organizational skills and ability to effectively multitask with frequent interruptions in a calm and professional manner.

    h)     Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Possesses excellent telephone skills and interpersonal communication abilities both verbal and written.

    i)      Professional personal appearance.

    j)      Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.

    k)     Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.

    l)      Experience working in highly confidential settings, healthcare preferred Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and practices.

    m)     Bilingual skills a plus.
