    Will work in conjunction with the Urology physicians to support both inpatient and outpatient clinical services.  Will provide surgical assistance for robotic surgery cases, care of urology inpatients and see in-hospital consultations to the urology service. Will also provide outpatient care for pre and postoperative urology patients. Will work to provide the highest level of clinical care and customer service.


    1) Outpatient responsibilities (90%)

    Provide patient care in the outpatient setting and assist physicians with post-operative care. This includes pre and post op evaluations, and being available to take patient calls regarding questions; triage and assisting clinic support staff. 

    2) Operating room assistant duties (5%)

    Providing operating room and assistance for robotic surgical cases, and open surgical cases as necessary.   This duty includes prompt and professional communication efforts, face-to-face customer contact skills, crisis management, use of available information technology and continuous application of process improvement methods and skills. Additional opportunities may present themselves in future years to assist in the OR as the practice continues to grow.

    3) Inpatient responsibilities (5%)

    Providing inpatient care and follow-up of assigned patients from OR to admission, and through discharge. Includes, but is not limited to: rounding on a daily basis, developing and implementing clinical plans of care and/or protocols for inpatients on the urology service, enhancing quality of patient services and decreasing length of inpatient stay; working actively with hospital and unit staff to rapidly develop and implement discharge plans for inpatients.


    Provides acute health care services as defined by ORS 677. and OAR847-050-0005 to 847-050-0065. All services provided shall be performed under the supervision of a physician supervisor.  A supervising physician is the physician (M.D. or D.O.) who provides direction and regular review of the medical services provided by the PA as set forth in the Practice Description and approved by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners.


    a)   Education:  Medical degree from an accredited medical school with appropriate residency training.

    b)   License:  Maintains Oregon licensure; accreditation to practice within realm of specialty; active staff membership in good standing with the medical staff of the hospital with all privileges and responsibilities accorded such membership.  Provider must maintain each of the qualifications listed.  Board certification or eligibility with expected certification.

    c)   Demonstrates skill in caring for specialty-related patients.

    d)   Develops and executes a new medical practice.

    e)   Uses effective communication skills to work with patients, families and co-workers in “simple” as well as in “difficult” situations.

    f)    Excellent customer service skills.

    g)   Speaks English fluently.

    h)   Demonstrates proper appearance and personal conduct.

    i)    Bilingual skills a plus.
