POSITION SUMMARY

Pay range: $47.62/hr - $71.91/hr

 

The Lactation Program Coordinator leads, develops, coordinates, and conducts initial and annual lactation education for RNs in Women’s and Children’s Center in addition to performing required audits and patient care.  In collaboration with the department Director, works to expand services provided and ensure the team is working to provide comprehensive care.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –

Performed majority of the time -- 

·       Provides patient care to lactating patients in the Women’s and Children’s Center (WCC).

·       Acts as a clinical resource for WCC staff members within the specialty and coordinates curriculum development and tracks completion of required education.

·       Participates in staff interviews, selection, orientation, and performance evaluations and holds staff accountable for adhering to departmental policies, processes and standards and assists management in the creation and implementation of performance expectations.

·       Identifies and facilitates implementation of evidence-based practices through policy, protocol and order set revisions and assists department leadership in managing change.

·       Serves as a liaison with community partners to improve care in the community.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education:

Required

·       Associates degree.

Preferred

·       N/A

Experience:

Required

·       One year of experience caring for childbearing families and in the physical assessment of maternal/child patients.

Preferred

·       3 years’ experience in WCC service line.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Required

·       International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant.

·       Current registered nurse license in Oregon State.

·       American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS.

Preferred

·       N/A
